Biosphere and Carbon Cycle

Investigations focus on land-atmosphere interactions on local, regional, and global scales. Research involves the study of the interface between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere using atmospheric observations in conjuction with simulation models. The development and application of models simulating these interactions contribute to scientists' understanding of the carbon cycle, the identity of the "missing sink" of anthropogenic carbon, environmental vulnerability, and climate change. Studies are conducted as observation compaigns and long-term field work.
