Professor Schubert's research focuses on the movement, intensification, and inner-core dynamics of tropical cyclones. In addition, he studies the overall dynamics of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), Hadley circulation, and the subtropical marine boundary layer, especially the concept of potential vorticity and its invertibility to obtain balanced wind and mass fields.
