The Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in Atmospheric Chemistry under the direction of Prof. Colette Heald. The successful candidate will use satellite observations (TES, CALIPSO, MOPITT, MODIS, MISR, CloudSat) with a global chemical transport model (GEOS-Chem) to investigate pollution export and transport from Asia. The project includes opportunities to observationally investigate a) multi-phase pollution export/transport b) aerosol-cloud interactions.
A focus of this work will be the effect of the emissions reductions anticipated during the Beijing 2008 summer Olympics on pollution export from the region.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in Atmospheric Science or a related discipline
- Familiarity with computer programming (UNIX, FORTRAN)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with satellite data analysis and/or chemical transport models
This position is for one year, renewable for two, with an anticipated start date of August 2008.
