Application of microchip capillary electrophoresis for continuous aerosol measurement
Biosketch

My undergraduate research under Dr. Gary Morris for the NASA INTEX Ozonesonde Network Study (IONS) led me to pursue graduate work at Colorado State. By combining my meteorology and chemistry background, I plan to develop methods of applying lab-on-a-chip technology-for the continuous measurement of ambient inorganic (and maybe organic) aerosols. If implemented, microchip capillary electrophoresis could significantly shrink the time, bulk, and cost associated with traditional aerosol measurement techniques. This project is headed by Jeff Collett, Chuck Henry from CSU's chemistry department, and Suzanne Hering from Aerosol Dynamics. Scott Noblitt, also from the chemistry department, has developed many components of the microchip. Thus far, work has been funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, EPA, NSF, and Aerosol Dynamics.

My personal interests are athletics, following Chicago sports teams, traveling, eating good food, National Geographic, involvement at church, enjoying a quality movie or show, and playing video games.
